What This Position is All About
The role of a Material Handler 1  is responsible for day to day activities of receiving, sorting and putaway merchandise in a timely manner.

Building teams by bringing others together when needed. Creates a sense of community and builds morale in their team.

 

 

DUTIES

  • Load and unload trailers

  • Label merchandise for stock and cross dock

  • Identify damaged, over/short merchandise and escalate to Lead Hand/Receiver.

  • Operate merchandise handling powered equipment (excluding highlift reach truck)

  • Help to perform inner carton inspections.

  • Putaway, Picking & Staging of MHF merchandise

  • Accuracy with all transactions performed on RF scanners based on Company process/guidelines

  • Departmental housekeeping

  • Other duties as assigned by Lead Hand or Supervisor

You also have:

 

  • 6 months of experience in a distribution center in similar position is a strong asset but not necessary

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with Company documentation

  • Able to operate RF scanners

  • Work within Company and department rules and standards

  • Use or wear protective clothing or equipment as required

  • Comply with HBC policies including Health and Safety procedures including reporting all injuries

  • Ability to be trained on the powered material handling equipment

  • Ability to read and write the English language fluently

  • Must be physically fit as position involves heavy lifting

  • Excellent attendance record
