Day In The Life:

The Planning Director is responsible for meeting or exceeding sales and profit objectives for several merchandise categories, working in conjunction with Divisional Merchandise Managers and their respective buying teams. This position will oversee the development and successful execution of topside and store financial plans, assortment/buy plans and merchandise allocation and size planning strategies.

What You Will Do:

  • Approves and manages the development of financial budgets and forecasts for a specific business
  • Assists SVP in strategic development of that business in alignment to overall HBC strategy
  • Responsible for Open to Buy control process and inventory management for an assigned DMM group
  • Communicating forecasts and supporting action plans. Present to management and merchant teams
  • Presents monthly the financial results and projections on business to SVP
  • Leads, develops, retains and recruits a planning team capable of fulfilling HBC Merchandising goals and objectives
  • Establishes short term and long term planning and allocation strategies that support corporate financial plans and merchandise strategies
  • Connects in with the stores on regular basis to ensure a proper inventory flow to maximize sales opportunities
  • Manages mark down process to ensure proper inventory currency is maintained
  • Additional responsibilities as required

 

What You Will Need:

  • 5 - 10 years of relevant experiences in demand planning (preferably for a growth ecommerce business)
  • Foundational understanding of allocation strategies
  • Demonstrated understanding of merchandising financials and ability to manage profitability
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail
  • Strong negotiation and problem solving skills
  • Proficiency in Excel is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • You take initiative in driving business results and are comfortable and confident in making effective decisions in a timely manner
  • You enjoy working in a collaborative environment and leveraging cross-functional partnerships
  • A respected and proven leader who enjoys team development, mentoring others and fostering opportunities for growth
